Cartagena Colombia, anyone been?
One of the few places that doesn’t have restrictions to enter/exit.

Any tips or is it just a normal resort type place?

The rules here are changing all the time. Late yesterday there was a court case to have entry based on a PCR test and a 14 day quarantine. That’s in flux at the moment,
Incidentally some anti body testing held in country suggests COVID has been way more prevalent than the tested numbers would imply which is both a good and a bad thing. The emergency powers, which would enable the return to a lockdown (there’s not one at the moment) were also just extended to February 28th.

I doubt if there will be much change in the Covid situation here by them. Like most poor countries we’re at the back of the queue for vaccines.
I don’t know the hotel but it’s in the walled city which is good. It’s kind of on the wrong side of the walled city though - the better hotels are on the other side. It didn’t use to be a good area, and its where more of the hostels are, but it’s been getting better as there’s a new upscale mall nearby.
Note the beaches in Cartagena are not good and you’ll be endlessly pestered on them.
One big positive to Cartagena is that the airport is small and you’ll spend no more than about ten minutes in a cab from outside the airport to your hotel.
January is usually a pretty dry month there, although we’ve been having unusual amounts of rain with La Nina recently. Note it gets very hot so air conditioning is important although power outages in the city can be common.
The best bar in town is at the Sofitel hotel,

Side, jan is my main holiday. Wanted to go to the churches and the dankshill depression in Ethiopia then on to Kenya/Uganda and Rwanda but Covid has knocked that into touch. Only a few places that have unrestricted access and Colombia is one of them.

Countries with NO Testing/Quarantines

Albania
Brazil
Colombia
Costa Rica
Dominican Republic
Kosovo
Mexico
North Macedonia
Serbia
Tanzania
Turkey

Cuba should be on that list as well.
